ABOUT
BALLYCROFT
OUR NAME
Ballycroft was created from the idea of combining two old
gaelic words:
'baile' meaning small town or village and
'croft' meaning small piece of arable land

OUR HISTORY
Ballycroft was originally the name of the cheesery run by Sue Evans and her sister Tracey Skepper. Waste water was utilised to irrigate the young vines and whey used as fertilizer.
The cheesery ceased operating in 2011 but the distinctive logo still graces the Small Berry wine bottles.
THE PROPERTY
The rain fed vineyard, hand planted in 1998, sits on our sloping 15 acre property in Greenock, Western Barossa Valley.
First vintage of Small Berry Shiraz produced in 2005.
In January 2016 the Tasting Room opened, once the production room for the cheesery.
In 2018 the winery was finished. Purpose built for our small needs it solely uses rainwater and runs on solar power.
In 2019 Ballycroft purchased a 100% electric Nissan Leaf delivery car called 'Zero', which is charged from the solar panels on the winery.

OUR WINE
Our wine is made as a reflection of our sustainable vineyard, the terroir and the individual vintage. Therefore you are to expect some variation from year to year and this will be evident in the final product.
Our philosophy at Ballycroft is to let the fruit tell the story.
